Finally, Malice Effect has arrived. The much talked about event is here. The Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota is packed, not a single seat empty. Tonight many questions will be answered, many dreams will be realized, and many hopes will be crushed. Some men will walk away smiling, knowing that they've made a career advancement. Others will go back to their lonely hotel room and ponder their future. There are more matches on this card that could have been main events than perhaps any event in CWF history. The entire roster has been called upon to carry their own weight, to each do their part for the benefit of the company. The dressing room area is filled, quite possibly, with more excitement than the capacity arena. Various CWF Warriors and Valkyries traverse the hallways and corridors of the backstage area. There are prematch promos and photoshoots taking place. Photographers and interviewers from the CWF, local media, independent magazines, and web sites. There is an undeniable electric buzz in the atmosphere.
Everything, all the talk, all the buildup has led to this. A night that is sure to be history in the making in more ways than one. A night that will resonate throughout the CWF, and is sure to be talked about for some time. Some feuds will end tonight, some will begin, and others are at their peak. Some will wonder what they did wrong and others will revel in what they did right. After this event, many people's careers will change, they will be looked at in a different light. Some positively some negatively. Evan Starr is confident just how the event will play out for him. This is his moment and he won't allow some pretenders, or some flash in the pan to rob him of it now, here at the last moment. Evan has come far in the past few months and tonight is the icing on the cake. Tonight Evan Starr will have one of those rare moments where he cuts loose and celebrates. It can be no other way, there can be no losing tonight. Victory is the only possible outcome. Evan has prepared himself, physically and mentally. All that's left is to go out and make it happen.
The fans inside the packed Target Center are at a fever pitch, they know what they are about to see. They've waited patiently and now they can let it out, they are ready to get things underway. Many of them have been to CWF shows before, others are attending their first CWF event. All of them will walk away with something to talk about, a story to tell. They wait anxiously as the lights suddenly dim. This abrupt change in things sends an instant cheer throughout the arena, the fans don't know what's happening, but they know things are getting started. The cheers turn to boos pretty quickly though, as "Won't Back Down" by Fuel Begins to play. Knowing this signal the arrival of Evan Starr, the chorus of boos is thunderous. As the colors of the lights change and the music plays, there is still no sign of Evan. The fans continue to boo as they await Evan's entrance. Still no sign of him as they song is more than halfway over. Now pissed of the fans in attendance join together for a chant of "you suck." Evan still hasn't come out and then his voice, from....... the rafters high above the arena. Evan is walking the rafters with manager/trainer Saul Horowitz.
"No I don't suck, not by a long shot. In fact I'm the damn best! I'm up here tonight, up here on these rafters for a reason. I'm up here, high above all you people, high above the other members of this roster because it's where I belong. It's symbolic of my actual place in this world. High above the scum of the Earth like you people and the trash that makes up the CWF roster. I'm up here because I know you stupid idiots can't even fathom the words I say. So this visual aide should help you to better understand just how great Evan Starr is. This is where I'm at in life. Soaring far above all the rest. I am the ultimate in human evolution. I am the top of the food chain. I am the kind of athlete that makes the world stand up and take notice. I am the kind of athlete that will be talked about centuries after I'm gone. I am the blueprint of a legend.
"So tonight, while you watch CWF Malice Effect. While you watch all the others perform, just remember as you stare in awe of me, that I told you so. Remember as I eliminate my opponents one by one, that I told the world months ago that it was my destiny to rule this federation. Remember that I told you, there was no one back there in that dressing room, no one in any other fed, hell no one on this planet, no one in this universe, who could compare to me. Know that when my match is over, nothing that happens after will be even a fraction as impressive. Make no mistake about it, I am the prize of this roster, and everyone in this company fears the day they are pitted against Evan Starr, the man who will not quit, the man who will not stop, until victory is achieved. Not one of my opponents has waited for this day as long, has worked as hard for this as I have, and the idea of one of them picking up the win is preposterous. It can not happen, i will not allow it to happen.
"This match, much like the original tournament is everything I've waited for. Everything I've busted my ass for. This is it. From this day forward I will be considered the elite of the roster. From this day forward I will be a main eventer. From this day forward I will be exactly where I said I would be. There will be no mistaking it. No question about it, Evan Starr can headline a card. Evan Starr can carry a fed. Evan Starr won't turn tail and run at the first sign of trouble. The fact of the matter is, not only can I hold my own with anyone I'm put up against, but I can defeat anyone that's put in front of me. the fact of the matter is................I am the CWF.
" I am the new face of the CWF, where others have failed I will succeed. Where others fell weak and couldn't carry on, I will prevail. Where others found success too much to handle, I will relish in it. I am here to change things forever. I am here to usher in the era of greatness, the total demolition of all things mediocre. I am here to ensure that this company has someone who will be the go to guy in times of need. I am the man who can turn a miserable card into the card of the century all by himself. There is no other. When the gauntlet match is over, who will this company turn to? Who can step up next and create a feud worthy of selling out across the entire country, or for that matter the world? Will guys as inconsistent as J-Roc and Gato be able to build a program? Will someone as untested as Outlaw, someone who lacks big name credibility, be able to convince the people he can give them something worth paying to see?
"No, the only possible outcome of this match is for Evan Starr to emerge victorious. I do it not only for myself, but for the good of the company. Quite frankly, me winning is just good business. It makes sense. For that very reason, I will win. I will win this match just as I've said I would, and from there go on to electrify the masses. The only question is the order of my opponents eliminations. You see, each and everyone of these guys has earned my hatred in their own special way. I despise all three of them. They each represent something I can't stand. Something I promised long ago to rid this company of. Now, I'm in position to do things I couldn't do when I started out. Now, the world knows Evan Starr. Now they know what I'm capable of. My opponents they know it too, and there isn't one of them that isn't thinking to themselves that I am the only real obstacle. They all know the only thing that stands between them and a title shot, is me. They all feel good about their chances of beating each other, but they all know Evan Starr is the big dog. I am the one they must defeat, and quite frankly not one of them can get the job done.
"You see, you take a guy like J-Roc, who may or may not be talented, and wonder just what the hell he's doing here. I mean either you want to be the best or you stay home. You either show us you're worthy of the buzz you used to receive or you get the hell out. Here's a guy that has proven to the ownership that he doesn't deserve to even be a part of this match. He seemingly has no interest in taking advantage of the opportunity he's been given. or maybe, just maybe he's the smart one. maybe he realizes just how slim his chances are. Maybe he realizes he is going to be facing the chosen one. I guess I understand after all. J-Roc knows what a waste of time it is to even try to beat me. I can understand that, and I wholeheartedly agree. You have no chance against me J-Roc, so why even get all worked up?
"His former partner Gato is still as clueless as ever. Gato, you have accomplished a few things here, but you've never been able to establish yourself as anything but average. A guy who wins some and loses some. A guy who shows up one week and the next is rarely seen or heard from. Oh, sure you're really gung-ho now, now that a title shot looms in the air. You're not always that way though, are you Gato? I mean who knows how dedicated you'll be next week. Who knows how much we'll see or hear from you in the next month? No, Gato you haven't proved yourself even near worthy. I won't even mention again the reasons why your win over me was a fluke, I'll just say that tonight you get the real Evan Starr, let's see how you handle that.
"And lastly the man who considers himself somebody. Outlaw, the man who believes in his deluded mind that he's somehow in the same category as me. Outlaw to you and Gato, or anyone who attempts to question my history, just know that the gauntlet match for the world title, the big event for Malice Effect, I've beaten half of the competitors. The fact is I've faced real challenges, while you've faced a long list of no-name bums, highlighted by beating J-Roc and Gato which around here, among the best, proves nothing. The fact is Outlaw, you say I'm easy to read? I never said I wasn't. I am easy to read. I'm the best, and I'll stop at nothing to prove it. You though, you're pretty easy to read yourself. You think YOU are cutting edge? You think you are original? You think we haven't seen a million and one guys acting just like you around here? Saying the exact same things you do. With the exact same back story you claim to have. No, Outlaw you are far from original, and the reason those guys aren't here anymore is because nobody bought it. They don't get over. The gangster thug image is tired, it's old news, we've seen it all before. You're not shocking us with your street antics and your poverty stricken past, that I'm sure was spent at some private school right down the road from my own. Outlaw, we all heard NWA twenty years ago, so the next time you wanna throw stones from your glass house, think it through. Images aside, when it comes to in ring talent, you're not in my class.
"So if there are any non-believers left out there, watch closely and you'll see me run through three other men as if this was a practice match. These guys are gonna be treated like sparring partners. I am the Epic Evan Starr and I will be declared the winner of tonight's Fatal Fourway, Three Stages of Hell match. The future for me, is as bright as it can possibly be. As for my opponents, it's back to the drawing board to find another way into a big match. Now, I'm going back to the back, and I'm sure we'll hear from my opponents again before the match, but it doesn't change the fact that Evan Starr stands alone in his own league. Far, far above the rest of you mere mortals."
"Won't Back Down" By Fuel plays again as Evan and Saul make their way back to the dressing room area to prepare for the match.
